We have all heard the phrases “as a man THINKETH,” or “you are what you THINK you are,” or how about this one – “if you THINK you can’t – you CAN’T.”  The purpose of this post is to help bring these thoughts into realtime.  To try and create a little clarity to an otherwise abstract concept.

Those who know me have heard me say many times that I am just a simple guy.  I don’t like reinventing the wheel.  If someone has already done something that I want to do, then I want to learn from their efforts.  In this vein I am going to rely on the work of two particular authors, Michael Clouse (who first distilled the concept for me) and Jim Rohn (who taught Michael Clouse).

Let me acknowledge that neither of these great authors came up with the original thought either.  It is as old as the world (older).  You can find it in the Bible.  You can find it in the writings of the ancient Greek Philosophers.  You can find it in virtually every civilized society since the foundation of the world.  But, as I said, I’m going to rely on Michael and Jim.  They taught me (thru their writings) the simplicity of this truth “You really do Bring About – what you Think About.”

This post can’t go into the depth that the subject deserves.  So, I recommend that you get “Thinking Your Way to Success” by Michael Clouse and “Challenge to Succeed” by Jim Rohn.  Get the audio program version or the written version, but if you are not satisfied with your current rate of success then just get them.  Do a search on the web and you will immediately find them all over the place (new & used at Amazon, eBay, etc., etc.).  There are others, but these work.

So, here’s how it all goes down – the gist of it.  Each of us has our own individual world view, our Personal Philosophy.  It includes everything we think about.  What we like or don’t like, who or what we listen to, the friends we keep, the shows-music-authors-speakers-news programs-everything we pay attention to.  These all DETERMINE what we think about each day, each hour, each minute.  And, the sum total of all we THINK ABOUT is who we CURRENTLY are.

So now to the heart of it.  If we want to change who we currently are (and this is necessary in order to get the greater success we are looking for), we MUST change what we currently THINK ABOUT.  I know, I know, it all sounds so daunting.  And, if we don’t get a grasp of how it all comes about, how change actually happens, then it would be daunting.  But, that’s why you are going to get Michael’s and Jim’s programs as mentioned above.

Here is the formula you will be studying.  These five principles you must ingest into memory.  Your personal PHILOSOPHY (all you currently think about) determines your ATTITUDE.  Your attitude determines your ACTIONS.  Your actions determine your RESULTS.  And, your results determine your LIFE STYLE (all you currently are, all you currently have, all you currently want).  These then are the five P-A-A-R-LS (think PEARLS for memory purposes) of Personal Success Wisdom.  When you want to change your thoughts again and achieve more and even greater successes you will repeat the cycle.  That’s all there is to it.  Well, of course, there’s a lot more to it.  But, this is the core of the concept.  Get their programs and find yourself moving much faster, with way more focus, toward what you really want to achieve with your life.

I’m going to end with one very important principle here.  Most motivational writers and speakers (the ones I’m familiar with at least) teach the concept of moving toward principled goals.  In other words they (most of them) believe in God and they try to teach and act in a moral way.  They hope we will do the same.

What I want to emphasize here is that if you really want to be happy in your successes, then make the moral/principled way the center of your success goals.  I personally do not believe we can violate God’s laws (His commandments) and be truly happy in our achievements.   So, along with regular study of success principles make regular scripture reading part of your regimen, too.  I believe God expects us to improve our lives in every aspect as we become capable.  If perhaps you are a non-believer, my intent here is not to offend.  My intent is that each of us can achieve all that is possible for us in accordance with the principles of God’s eternal laws of true happiness.

All the best,  Steve

P.S. – Ok, I’m not posting from the Mayan Riviera right now.  It’s January and it’s cold where I am.  More than likely it’s cold where you are, too.  So these photos just serve as visuals of where we could be at this time of year.  We could be playing in the warm sunshine.  These pictures were taken last year (Jan.-2012) at a company sponsored “vacation-get-away”.  We actually did go to the Mayan Riviera (Cancun, Mexico) one year ago.  And, here’s a challenge for you.  We all can be somewhere just like this next year at this time.  Let’s all start THINKING that we can.  Just do it!  Start changing your THOUGHTS, NOW!  Let’s cruise together next year.  THINK SNOW!err I mean… WARM TROPICAL SUNSHINE!… for Jan.-2014.
